I would like to thank Nikki Read and Giles Lewis of How to Books for allowing me the opportunity of having this second book about childminding published through them.

I am passionate about quality childcare and I strongly believe that every child has the right to feel loved and welcome in a happy, secure environment where they can explore and learn.

I have endeavoured to provide such an environment for the many children I have worked with over the years I have spent as a childminder. This book has been written in the hope of sharing some of my ideas and experiences with other like-minded people who are either already working with children or who are considering moving into a profession involving working with children be it as a professional childminder, nursery nurse, early years worker or similar.

I would like to thank all the parents and the children, past and present, I have had the privilege of working with.

I would also like to thank my own parents, Roger and Cynthia, for providing me with a memorable childhood which has set me in good stead for being a mother and childcarer.

Last but by no means least I would like to thank my husband Mark and sons Sam and David for their patience and understanding which have enabled me to pursue such a demanding career.
